Summary: | The Laboratory for Clean Energy Research (LaCER) is equipped with lithium-ion batteries and ultra-capacitors. In order to ward the batteries against excessive charging/ discharging and also unbalanced voltage across each battery, a suitable energy storage hardware configuration of these energy storage devices, a form of balancing circuit and their protection would have to be proposed and designed.
As a final year student embarking on his epitome of his studies, I would have to strategise and incorporate a charge/discharge control scheme in Labview software to control a 5-kVA bi-directional energy storage controller, otherwise encapsulated as a smart battery management system, as the core component of my final year project. The energy storage hardware configuration and the charge/discharge software control scheme should be implemented for control plus operation of Micro-grid Energy Management System (MG-EMS) at the LaCER lab. |
