Failure to comply with such EMC standards may degrade system performance when it is placed in an environment filled with electromagnetic interferences. It is therefore essential for all equipment to comply with their respective EMC standards before the mass production of such equipment. With the increasing clock speed in most electronic devices (i.e. Computer’s processors), the likelihood of the nearby systems picking up interference have increased. It is thus vital to verify that the system is not only capable of controlling their emission but also to be less susceptible to degradation when placed in a noisy environment. This report presents an experimental study of the effects of Electromagnetic interference coupled onto the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) due to an external field through the introduction of interface cable. The scope of the report will cover the development of the test circuit, the shielding effectiveness of the enclosure used in the study, the measurements obtained during the conduction of the Electromagnetic interference experiment, and lastly the conclusion and recommendations for future works.
