The widespread applications of NUI vary and are applicable in many fields including education, healthcare, gaming, location-based, security, conferencing, collaboration, gaming and multimedia. The author’s project focuses on NUI application in multimedia area or stage performance in particular. An instrument in the form of prototype has been built for the purpose of demonstrating the NUI as an application for graphic equalizer or dance moves integration with the combination of wearable technology. The prototype is hardware-based, made wearable and serves as a mean for visual display in the interaction between the users and the natural inputs. It is an electroluminescent wire suit (EL suit) powered by Arduino and Processing with the add-on feature of being controlled wirelessly via a Bluetooth modem. The author’s project is part of Natural User Interface project which consists of 2 sub projects namely Natural User Interface I dealing with software and Natural User Interface II dealing with hardware. The author’s project is Natural User Interface II which focuses on the hardware of the prototype including EL wires, Arduino as main controller and Bluetooth setup for the wireless communication between the EL suit and the song’s characteristics inputs. description |
Natural User Interface (NUI) and Wearable technology have been growing popular in this modern era, giving the users more intuitive and natural ways to interact with various
systems or hardware. The widespread applications of NUI vary and are applicable in many fields including education, healthcare, gaming, location-based, security,
conferencing, collaboration, gaming and multimedia.
The author’s project focuses on NUI application in multimedia area or stage
performance in particular. An instrument in the form of prototype has been built for the
purpose of demonstrating the NUI as an application for graphic equalizer or dance
moves integration with the combination of wearable technology. The prototype is
hardware-based, made wearable and serves as a mean for visual display in the
interaction between the users and the natural inputs. It is an electroluminescent wire suit
(EL suit) powered by Arduino and Processing with the add-on feature of being
controlled wirelessly via a Bluetooth modem.
The author’s project is part of Natural User Interface project which consists of 2 sub
projects namely Natural User Interface I dealing with software and Natural User
Interface II dealing with hardware. The author’s project is Natural User Interface II
which focuses on the hardware of the prototype including EL wires, Arduino as main
controller and Bluetooth setup for the wireless communication between the EL suit and
the song’s characteristics inputs. |
