Three major popular music composer groups which exist from the 1990s until present, named ‘Northern Group of Composer’,, 'Huang Huo', and 'Dongtaidu' are selected as the focused subject in the study. The study will analyze and discuss how these groups represent different positions and musical production ideology as ‘mainstream', ‘resistance’, ,‘cross over’ respectively, showing the place and identity of Malaysian Chinese youth in the specific social and political context of Malaysia.
