Due to the disorder structure of atoms, metallic glasses possess some unique properties, such as improved hardness, abrasion resistance, and corrosion resistance. Currently a great number of different alloy systems have been developed to produce metallic glasses. Comparatively, Mg based metallic glasses have low density, outstanding biocompatibility and high recyclability, that are suitable to be applied as the functional material in industry, such as aerospace, biomedical and automobile. But the poor corrosion resistance of Mg based alloys has restricted their further wide applications. Hence, development of Mg based metallic glasses and investigation of their corrosion properties can provide the insight on Mg-based metallic glasses to replace crystalline Mg alloys in applications.
