الملخص:Diamond has always been well known for their beauty and the extreme tribological properties it possessed. Diamond-like carbon (DLC) is much less famous, but over the years researchers discovered its potential and placed more emphasis on it. This leads to the significant improvement to DLC film property. This project will give a systematic approach towards investigating the influence of normal load and sliding velocity on friction coefficient and wear of titanium (Ti) doped DLC film with titanium interlayer in water lubricated condition. An insight from the experiment results indicates that friction coefficient decrease with increasing normal load but increase with increasing sliding velocity. Wear volume generally increases with increased normal load and sliding velocity. Wear rates trend observed were slightly complicated and was discussed in the subsequent chapters. The mechanisms identified and speculated to have contribute to the trends observed during the test was water lubrication and graphitisation. This study would require further investigation in order to determine the magnitude of contribution from graphitisation or water lubrication that accounts for the trend observed.
