As such, practicing engineers will be expected to familiarize with the philosophy behind Eurocode 7 (EC7) so as to produce an equally competent design. This report primarily aims to discuss the three main Design Approaches (DA1, DA2 and DA3) in EC7 with the help of different illustrative examples of an axially loaded pile founded in either single or multiple uniform clay layers. Both bored and driven piles will be analyzed in the following parametric study which is developed on the Microsoft Excel platform. Subsequently, a comparison between BS8004 and EC7 will be drawn to highlight the degree of conservativeness involved in each design code respectively. In addition, the Singapore National Annex (NA to SS EN1997-1:2010) will be used in conjunction with the Eurocode 7 not only to cater for any nationally determined parameters but also to validate against the governing trends observed in this parametric study. Last but not least, the EC7 pile design will be verified using previous case studies of pile load tests.
