In this project, development of the microstructure of two types of titanium –CP-Ti and Ti-6Al-4V compressed at quasi-static and dynamic rates were investigated. The experiment was conducted using the INSTRON tester for quasi-static compression and SHPB for the dynamic compression testing. The microstructures of both materials at different strains were analysed and the microstructure of the Ti-6Al-4V specimens showed different deformation characteristic when subjected to quasi-static and dynamic compression.
