Summary: | Drying of fabric is applicable domestically when wet laundry needs to be dried and in the fabric manufacturing industry when it is a necessary process to dry the fabric after dyeing.
Many type of dryer are already in use in today’s market but a drying chamber using perforated pipes are rarely seen in the market.
The author designed and fabricated a drying chamber to simulate the air flow through the perforated pipes and examine the flow phenomenon within the drying chamber to understand how perforated pipes can be used increase the efficiency of such drying chamber.
The heat transfer performance of the system depends greatly on the velocity and mass flow rate of the air in the chamber. Higher turbulence of air enhances heat convection and higher mass flow rate will enable higher rate of moisture elimination.
The simulations aim to vary the parameter of the perforated pipes to enhance the flow condition to improve the drying rate and the efficiency of such drying chamber. |
