Description
Summary:Use of liquid desiccant, specifically calcium chloride, for dehumidification of air had been investigated both in theory and experimentally. A membrane module with emphasis on membrane spacing and alignment was constructed for this project, together with an experiment rig that supports chemical dehumidification of air using liquid desiccant. Pre-experiment investigations were carried out to determine standards of desiccant concentration and range of system parameters for development of experiment procedures. Actual parametric study was carried out using the procedures considering 3 different concentrations of calcium chloride to determine optimum operating conditions and combinations of parameters for achieving 50% relative humidity for exit air. A total of 108 experimental runs were conducted to obtain 2 sets of results under repeated conditions for prove of repeatability and system stability. Results were presented in 3 different formats for analysis of system behaviour compared against results of similar experiments.
