A virtual supermarket was designed to help children with ASD to develop independence in them and eventually adopt the ability to do shopping by their own. The Microsoft Kinect; a body motion tracking sensor, was used as a mode of controller in the virtual supermarket. Participants in the experiment used gesture commands to control the movement in the virtual supermarket. The experiment conducted on two children with moderate autism. The result shows both participants having improvement over a period of 2 weeks in 2 experiments conducted. These also proven that virtual reality with the motion gesture is a feasible tool for developing new skills for children with autism.
