International Standard. The mechanical design program was developed from Microsoft Visual Basic program to create a user-friendly interface for the user to learn and design with. The programs will provide some simple 2D drawings to simulate the dimensions that the user had provided. The design of the program had been altered to spare the user from performing any further search for material properties. However, the software is only programmed for type-E heat exchanger calculations and other types of shell-and-tube heat exchangers may not have the same result as the type-E heat exchanger. With that function, the software had been programmed with 10 different various materials of elastic moduli and ultimate tensile strengths. The software can also provide some help to the user on the tube thickness gauging, hints to some parameters that the user may not know how to calculate. The completed software are able to perform and provide simple drawings on shell-and-tube heat exchanger, tubesheet thickness and also perform vibration checks to access whether the heat exchanger is operating in the safe regime.
