A latching system for perching UAV (A140)

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are aerial vehicles that operate without needing a human pilot on board. Nowadays, UAVs are used in military and civilian domains for various applications. So there are needs to increase the UAV operation life by different approach. This report shows the attempt to...

Nowadays, UAVs are used in military and civilian domains for various applications. So there are needs to increase the UAV operation life by different approach. This report shows the attempt to extend the operation life by allowing the UAV to perch at tree branches to conserve power usage. This report prototype was done by two people, one on design and development of the mechanism, and other on developing the sensors and programs to integrate the mechanism and UAV. The resulting prototype was able to perform perching on 8cm diameter branch and tube. However, the prototype still needs further modification like damping and differential mechanism to conserve power and perform better perching on irregular shape.
