Description
Summary:The objective of this FYP is to build both hardware and software to connect the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus and user’s personal computer (PC), in order to realise secured monitoring and controlling for CAN messages. The circuit board designed for the hardware implementation consists of two main chips, where one allows interfacing with the CAN bus, and the other provides a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port to communicate with the computer. For the software part of the project, firmware was designed to enable the propagating CAN message to be visible on a Graphical User Interface (GUI), and to allow users to manually transmit CAN messages, so as to control the vehicle. Tests have been conducted in this project to eliminate the errors and bugs, and also to improve the performance of the CAN bus monitoring and controlling system.
