Summary: | Transformation optics overcomes the limitation of the current optical technologies in manipulating and controlling light of all scales , especially macro and nano -scale , thus it represents a new paradigm for the science of light in designing devices such as cloaks and field concentrators. Transformation optics also curves the space for light, in the form of electromagnetic waves for its equations in the domain of transformation optics are similar to general relativity, which warps time and space. By making use of materials that exhibit spatially variable distribution of permittivity and permeability to alter the electromagnetic space, Transformation optics offer a new vision of light manipulating techniques. Its research originally focuses on the electrical and magnetic responses of medium .As the recent invention of system of unitary permeability and spatially varied permittivity , plenty of opportunities are there to be discovered for controlling and manipulating light . Liquid core and liquid cladding (liq/liq) optofluidic waveguide is a hot research topic recently in transformation optics for its tunable property and attractive optical properties. It surpasses the conventional solid waveguide in that its component and flow rate can be changed and easily switchable. With the aid of professional software COMSOL’s Microfuildic model and RSoft’s beamprop module by designing liquid core and liquid cladding waveguides of different shapes including rectangle ,up-trapezoid, down-trapezoid, para-saddle and para-rhombus and injecting deionized water with refractive index of 1.335 into liquid core and 5M CaCl2 solution into liquid core at from 1ul/ min to 15 ul / min , the GRIN profiles and optical effects like chirped focusing and interference vary accordingly .The purpose of the study is to find the pattern of how the GRIN profile and optical effects change with the composition ,flow rate and shape. |
