Many people begin to worry about their batteries going flat, especially in places without electricity access, such as in a rural place or in a forest. Being able to make a call or send a SMS may make a life or death difference. The aim of the project is to design and develop a small portable charger with a LED function that can be used in emergency conditions. It can be applied to military as well as domestic use. The charger will be designed to allow users to hand-crank in order to produce electricity and save themselves in harsh conditions. This report describes the design, fabrication, testing and further improvement on the functions of the charger to achieve its goal and fulfill the needs of the users. The final product is achieved. This study can be taken into consideration when conducting further improvement studies on the design, functional abilities and the efficiency of hand-cranked portable chargers.
