Nowadays, as wireless communications developing, the requirements of Radio Frequency (RF) devices in wireless communication are very stringent. Radio Frequency filter is one of the most important components, and its performance will directly influence the communication system. Hence, the theory, design methods and configuration forms of microwave filter are the hot topics of researches and studies.
Since the ultra-wideband frequency spectrum was released in 2002 for unlicensed in-door and hand-held commercial applications by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), RF filter has got vigorously development. According to FCC requirement, the UWB frequency range is from 3.1GHZ to 10.6GHz. The serious issues and problems of designing of UWB filter in ultra-wideband frequency are how to suppressing all kinds of interference. To solve the issues and problems, different kinds of UWB filter with notch-band were created, invented and developed.
Most of researches and technologies are restricted to generate only one frequency notch-band, which cannot satisfy the application requirement.
The UWB band pass filters have been developed based on various methodologies: integration of multiple-mode resonator (MMR) with two coupled-lines [1]; capacitive-ended coupling section for spurious harmonic suppression [2]; stepped impedance multimode resonator(SIR) [3]; and electromagnetic band gap embedded UWB filter with a wide upper-stopband [4], [5]; substrate integrated waveguide (SIW); split ring resonator (SRR).
The Substrate Integrated waveguide (SIW) technique which can be integrated in the dielectric substrate with low insert loss and low radiation loss is a novel guided wave structure. The propagation character in SIW is similar to that in a conventional rectangular waveguide, so the millimetre wave SIW components and sub-systems take a lot of merits such as high Q, high power capability and easy integration etc. Following the rapidly development of modem microwave technology, the system bases on SIW becomes a hot research topic due to its advantages of small size, low-weight, reliable, multifunctional.
This report mainly studies on the UWB bandpass filter with multiple notched band characteristics and UWB bandpass filter with notch-band functions.
The contents of report and studies are as follows:
This article studies mainly focus on two aspects, one is ultra-wideband bandpass filter with notch band using the Multiple-mode resonator (MMR) structure with dumbbell stubs, and the other is ultra-wideband bandpass filter with dual notch-band consists of a square-etched multi-mode resonator (MMR) and two coupled stepped impedance resonators (SIRs).
1. The ultra-wideband bandpass with notch band using the multiple-mode resonator structure with dumbbell stubs, it’s used to obtain notch-band at 5.8 GHz. The filter consists with MMR, dumbbell stubs and interdigital coupled line.
2. Ultra-wide band bandpass filter with dual notch-band, provide dual notch bands at 5.2GHz and 5.8GHz. It consist MMR and SIRs.
First, introducing currently status of UWB bandpass filters and UWB bandpass filter with multiple notch-band, and the basic technical parameters microwave filters, and the application standards of wireless communication.
The secondly is studying ultra-wdeband (UWB) bandpass filters with MMR structure.
Key words: substrate integrated waveguide (SIW), integration of multiple-mode resonator
(MMR), Ultra-wideband filter (UWB), Split Ring Resonator (SSR)
