Summary: | The 4th generation (4G) Long Term Evolution (LTE) network is an Internet-Protocol-based network. The 3rd Generation Partnership Projects (3GPP) defines the LTE network, on the basis of Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS). [1] It provides a faster and more secure network for end users in a variety of services. To access the multimedia services, the users need to authenticate two steps both in the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) layer and LTE network layer. Authentication and Key Agreement (AKA) protocol are utilized on both of the layers. This project purposes a new authentication protocol to combine both LTE network layer and IMS layer to avoid double execution. The security of LTE network layer has also improved to prevent from DoS attack by utilizing the hybrid key cryptography and timer on the HSS. Finally, energy consumption is also studied, and saved up to 10.42% of the energy consumption of the user equipment (UE). |
