This project will design and implement a wireless home security application based on Linux Operating System. Linux is a Unix-like computer operating system assembled together under the model of open and free source software distribution and development. The underlying source code of Linux may be used, modified, and distributed commercially or non-commercially by users. Making use of this platform, this project will aim to revolutionize home security, using wireless systems to establish connection to portable devices. The project will focus on building an all rounded home security system using Raspberry pi as the portable unit. The Raspberry Pi is developed in the UK, it is basically a single-board computer that is sized to be as small as a credit card. Each unit only cost US$35 to purchase and it runs on Linux OS. With its superior portability and performance capability, many users have made use of this platform to program the raspberry pi to suit their own needs.
