Summary: | The main aim of this project is to develop a system which is able to perform the media certification on the Media Disk Writer during servo writing with virtually zero time overhead with the help of optical clock. The application should be able to decrease the lead time and increase the production rate of the disk drives.
The Objectives of this project are
To assemble a servo writer with the new hard ware to do certification
Media defect Scanning
Implementation of new Spindle writing tracker (Optical Clock)
Increase Production rate
Decrease Lead time
The existing media writer is not able to perform the certification of the disk. It makes the process for the disk manufacturing. Test and certification is another process presently. By decreasing manufacturing lead time it is possible to increase the production rate of the hard disk drive. So discussions are carried out to reduce the manufacturing process. And our research and development team came up with suggestion to combine writing and certification.
During researches carried out the main problem was to solve the disc damage due to the magnetic clock closure. Magnetic clock is a servo tracker to track the spindle which is used to hold the disk pack while it is spinning for the writing process.
To assemble a media disk writer there are many procedures have to be carried out. The procedures are center to centre alignment, write angle, phase angle to stabilize optical clock, new hardware “X” installation and set up. |
