Description
Summary:In this Final Year Project, the thermo-properties of PCF was changed by using non-selective infiltration methods, and modal interferometers were fabricated using fully ethanol-filled hollow core PCF for temperature sensing purpose. Also, the temperature sensitivity of the PCF based model interferometer was adjusted using selective infiltration technique. The result of the experiment was that a PCF based temperature-sensitive modal interferometer with temperature sensitivity of –0.30 nm/°C was produced. It is 45 times higher than the temperature sensitivity of an uninfiltrated PCF based modal interferometer. Also, by using the selective infiltration method, the temperature sensitivity of the interferometer was adjusted to –0.11 nm/°C, which shows that different infiltration pattern could have great influence on the temperature properties of PCF.
