Summary: | As the one of the key components of the communication systems, the filters
have played a more and more important role. With the development of the modem
technology, the requirement of performance for the filters has become higher and
higher. An ideal filter is not only means passing the desired frequency with low
insertion loss and suppressing the others with high return loss. Many practical
demands are also vital, such as the overall size and the electrical performance.
Recently, the CRLH metamaterial was proposed. Its unique characteristics have
attracted many researchers to study on it. ZOR is a promising application based on it
because the group delay in one unit cell is zero which is a great improvement for
distortion free system.
After introducing the basic concept for the classical filters design, the
fundamental theories about the metamaterials will be presented. A lot of
distinguished features will be summarized. Then a ZOR as an application of the
CRLH TLs will be designed and discussed with the help of commercial EM
full-wave simulation software. Some useful conclusions are obtained as a design
reference for the further related research works. |
