description |
The project involves the exploration of Composite Right and Left Handed (CRLH)
transmission line implemented on coplanar waveguide for filter application.
Basically composite right and left handed metamaterials exhibit left handed wave
propagation at low frequency and right handed wave transmission at high frequency.
Metamaterials have wide range of application because of its negative permittivity
and permeability characteristics, which contradicts with right-handed conventional
materials.
Composite Right and left handed Transmission lines are designed by periodically
repeating the unit cell which contains series capacitance, series inductance, shunt
capacitance and shunt inductance.
The dissertation aims is to develop a composite right and left handed transmission
line with four unit cell structure to work as a dual band pass filter. The scattering
parameters of the implemented structure is studied by using software simulation tool
Agilent, Advance design system 2009(ADS) and the corresponding dispersion
characteristics of the proposed structure is obtained by compiling with a MATLAB
program. The simulation is done with the best knowledge of the software provided.
The later stage of the dissertation involves the fabrication of four unit cell
transmission line structure. The proposed structure is tested with the help of a
Network Analyzer (VNA). The tested results are compared with the simulation
results to realize a dual band pass filter. |
