| Summary: | English is an important language that is commonly used everywhere, it also plays a major role in primary, secondary and tertiary education. With its importance in the education sector, English is one of the major subjects for all education levels. Students are therefore educated to be equipped with good English writing and speaking skills, and finally be evaluated through English academic examinations in order to advance to the next level of education or qualify for the workforce.
Being one of the most important subjects to conquer in the academic examination, with the different types of sections in the English examination paper to prepare, students are finding various ways to best equip themselves with the different types of sections in the paper.
Typically, English grammar is one of the major sections that will be tested in the English examination. It is also one of the hardest sections to score due to its complication and ambiguity.
In order for students to prepare for the section related to English grammar, they often rely on online websites or books on grammar, and past year English examination papers for revision, and as a source of reference to identify important grammar concepts and keywords. However, such way may not be the most ideal as much time and effort are usually required.
Therefore, the project aims to develop a web-based learning system named "Grammar Learning System (GLS)" which targets on "China GaoKao (高考) English Examination Papers". It provides a wide range of features such as Topic Distribution, Topic Trend Analysis, Exercises and many more to aid students in their preparation for the section related to grammar in the English examination papers. |
