Description
Summary:A city is an interconnected system of systems. One of the most important pillars is transport. People are always moving, and intelligent transportation systems can enhance travel experiences and improve the quality of life for the people. In this project, PETRINA, known as “Personalized Traffic Information Analytics”, a system that provides traffic-related incident monitoring, mapping analytics services, is developed. Its main role is to combine mapping capabilities together with traffic analysis on processed data to display real-time traffic information as well as to highlight meaningful temporal geospatial patterns on the roads of Singapore. Extensive planning has been done to ensure that PETRINA is highly scalable, sustainable, robust and adaptive to changes. Traffic data is streamed from the Land Transport Authority of Singapore. Data come in both text and images format, and are stored inside PETRINA over a period of at least three months. Text and image analysis is further performed on the data to extract important features for processing. Meaningful patterns are also discovered through the use of various visualization techniques. PETRINA can be integrated into applications that are driven by near real-time personalized automated traffic information and ad hoc temporal geospatial analysis. Moreover, the transport data analytics can provide useful information for urban planning.
