Description
Summary:With the rapid development of technology, people now own an assortment of powerful yet mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and digital cameras. The way people learn new knowledge has changed over the past few years due to this phenomenon. Learning photography is not exception to this and till now, there has been no good way to do so. By leveraging on the availability of technology in current devices, this project aims to teach photography to the masses in a simple and intuitive manner. The project is based on an earlier system, the Remote Camera Control system, which allows a user to remotely control a digital camera using a mobile device with the help of a Raspberry Pi ultra-portable computer. Utilising the ideas behind this system, an innovative teaching environment can be implemented whereby the instructor teaches by controlling the camera remotely while the students learn by viewing the camera settings and images using their mobile devices. Through the course of this project, the issues with the Remote Camera Control system are resolved and an Android application for instructor to control the camera using an Android tablet is implemented. Furthermore, a web browser user interface allows the students to learn by viewing the camera settings as well as the captured and live view images from the camera using their mobile devices. By doing so, the objectives of this project can be achieved.
