Summary: | Traditional search engines use keywords to search and are usually limited by how the query is performed. Users who seek meaningful results are often faced with an overload of information due to the huge amount of data returned, most of which are useless or irrelevant. Through the use of complex SQL queries, one can help to filter out information that are not useful.
Therefore, the main purpose of this project is to create an iPad application that will translate inputs and gestures from users who have no knowledge on SQL, transform these inputs into complex SQL queries, and provide meaningful information or results that the users seek.
This project will focus heavily on the development of the client and server user interface, as well as clever use of human gestures such as click, pinch, drag, and enter. This implementation will specifically be on Apple iOS and iPad devices only.
In this project, web server technology Apache and the PHP language are used. MySQL is used as the database server, and JSON in java will aid in the data transfer between the iPad device and the web server. Lastly, XCode/Objective C is used to program the user interface and gestures for the iPad. |
