So Ping Lam School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering DRNTU::Engineering This paper is the author’s final year project report and presents the research on renewable energy and how to develop the data acquisition system in CLEAN Laboratory. The purpose of the project is to develop the data acquisition system for renewable energy system and do the cost benefit analysis base on the data collected by DAQ system. Firstly, The setting of DAQ system is that connect various sensors such as wind direction smart sensor and wind speed smart sensor with the data acquisition device, Hobo U30 Data Logger so that computer program able to get the data from Data Logger send by external sensors. Hobo Data Logger receives parameter of wind as in wind speed, gust speed and wind direction from external sensors in every one minute. Users are able to view and download the data from GUI. The connection between hobolink and PI server is using JAVA coding. As a result, the data can be downloaded to PI server which is the desktop computer in CLEAN Laboratory. After the data are downloaded to PI server, users can view, analyze, archive and deliver the data for further development. Based on the collected real time data, author makes cost benefit analysis by calculating of the monthly wind power, annual energy of corresponding wind turbine to be installed in specific location.
