Description
Summary:Research shows that VR (Virtual Reality) can be used as a teaching aid in the education of Autism children. In the field of Autism education, the most difficult part is to increase the concentration time of Autism children. By using the Virtual Reality technology, such as 3D visualization, realistic rendering, we can dramatically improve the concentration of autism children as well as the teaching efficiency. Virtual Reality technology can also be extended to other special needs education. This project (Road-‐Crossing Simulator) is designed to help those children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders) adopt the basic skills of road crossing in the traffic junction. Currently, this serious game is designed for mild and moderate autism; for those severe autism children, teacher should give more aids and instructions during the learning process by using Road-‐crossing simulator. Result shows that autism children are quite interested in this play& learn mode, they can concentrate much longer than usual, which is the best result we expect. Currently, this serious game is designed for the left-‐hand traffic system nations like Singapore. Later, the designer will update a new version with right-‐hand traffic system, which can meet the requirements of more users from other countries.
