Description
Summary:In the past decades, electricity consumption increases quickly in Singapore. To improve the stability and security of the grid avoiding large area blackout, and to avoid building more and more new plants to meet the peak load, utilities eager to develop new methods. In recent years, 'Smart Grid' becomes popular to researchers for its good performance and great potential in power system control. Demand response is a valuable technology in smart grid for 'peak load' shaping. Within our hybrid AC/DC micro-grid, a demand response program coordinated with the grid SCADA system is proposed in this dissertation. The program simulates the demand response of the lighting load in AC grid and air conditioner load in DC grid. To figure out the control logic of the lighting loads and air conditioners, relative information and technologies are introduced. The program is a remote control program of our load devices. Our program inquires the electricity consumption data and USEP (uniform Singapore electricity price) from a database which stores real time and prediction of power demand. Then the program will display the data both in digital and graphics. According to the peak demand period or real time electricity price, the program controls the loads to be shed or shifted by a customized amount taking various factors into account. Digital and graphics results will be shown And some testing experiments are done to check the program functions in the dissertation.
