description |
With the process of urbanization and population rapidly increasing, energy problem is becoming more and more prominent. Human is not only facing the increasing energy cost but also the greenhouse effect, global warming and the rising sea level. Because electricity is still mainly generated by burning fossil fuels, whose reserves are limited and will emit large quantities of greenhouse gases in the combustion.
The concept of sustainable and intelligent buildings is emerging as an important application area for smart grid technologies. In addition, effective building energy management becomes feasible in a smart grid environment. As commercial building is an important member of energy consumers, an intelligent building energy management system (IBEMS) can optimize of energy efficiency and reduce energy cost of a commercial building while provide comfortable indoor environment.
The project is carried out through the use of a PC-based server together with ZigBee wireless communication, Modbus communication, micro-controllers, sensors and other electrical devices. The system can efficiently manage the energy usage of lighting, heating and cooling systems in buildings. |
