Description
Summary:The objective of this study is to examine whether attributes of management control system (i.e. budget goals, environmental scanning, cost control and planning) differ between Defenders and Prospectors in the electronics & electrical industry in Singapore. The mode of research use is survey. Some 100 questionnaires were sent to randomly selected manufacturing firms. The response rate was 45.5%. one-tailed t-tests are used to analyse the results. A comparison of our findings with previous studies was carried out. The main findings include: 1)Prospectors emphasize budget goals more than Defenders. 2)There is little evidence that Prospectors emphasize more environmental scanning than Defenders. 3)Prospectors emphasize greater cost control than Defenders. 4)Prospectors place greater emphasis on planning than Defenders.
