Summary:The phenomenal growth of the Singapore economy over the past three decades can be attributed to a series of sound economic policies that has been undertaken by the government. It began with a strategy of attracting foreign direct investments from other countries into Singapore to effect a successful industrialisation programme. It has been recognised that it is no longer wise to rely on this strategy alone for the years to come. Instead, globalisation has become the impetus for further economic development.
