Summary:Studies to investigate preferred optical setups and culture media were carried out. Four optical setups have been examined to measure different niacin concentrations. The configurations tested were as follows: optical probe, extrinsic optical sensor, single decladded fibre optic sensor and double decladded fibre optic sensor. From the experimental results, the most suitable setup was the extrinsic optical sensor.
