Summary:This paper discusses how Tumblr as a micro-blogging site facilitates an understanding of the body in a postmodern world. Specifically, how re-blogging can be seen as a narrative process for bloggers in their expression and communication of identity and self. The body is found to be heavily sexualized across the 6 Tumblrs sampled for this paper. In addition, the discussion will also revolve around bodies with tattoos and of those that embody fitness and health. The body is framed as signifying postmodernism and the theory of postmodernism will link the concepts of body and also how individuals engage with new social media (Tumblr) in today’s world.
