Summary: | In this final year project, a self-designed apparatus was employed to grow bulky, large-sized, highly crystalline stilbene crystal doped with tiny amount of TCNQ (Tetracyanoquinodimethane). During the crystal growth, factors such as doping concentration, growth speed were controlled, and factors including temperature and shape of crucible tip were monitored.
The crystals grown were sent for various characterizations and measurements. Relation between crystallinity and degree of charge transfer was then explored. XRD and SEM analysis were conducted to solve the crystal structure, while a FT-IR was utilized to analyze the degree of charge transfer between dopants (TCNQ) and host crystal (stilbene). |
