Climate change mitigation is one of the most urgent issues on the global agenda, but fears in the developing world that the implementation of wide-ranging climate change mitigation strategies will hinder development and human security poses an obstacle to a global climate deal. This study seeks to address these fears by investigating the short term impact of climate change mitigation on human security in developing countries. By utilising a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, this study shows that clean energy production has a strong correlation with human security in developing countries. Other forms of climate change mitigation are not however found to have a significant correlation with human security.
