Lee Nanyang Business School DRNTU::Business 84 p. This study focuses on consumers' bargaining attitudes and styles in a shopping context. In particular, the authors examine how culture affects bargaining behaviours. We hypothesise that Chinese and Caucasians have different attitudes towards bargaining and bargaining styles. In doing so, this study aids retailers and marketers in Singapore to apply different tactics when selling to different consumers, particularly the Chinese and Caucasians. In addition, exploratory research is also done to find out whether demographics have an impact on bargaining attitudes and styles. Furthermore, important considerations are highlighted when applying the results of this study. Overall, we find strong empirical support for most of our hypotheses, except for some in our exploratory research.
