Despite the growing demand for technologies that are capable of supporting collaborative work groups, little research has been done to examine the process and outcome of group interaction using a computer support technology. In order to expand research in this area, a laboratory experiment was undertaken to measure the idea generation and decision-making performance of groups of four and eight members in both face-to-face and dispersed conditions. A 2x2 factorial design using a synchronous Group Decision Support Systems (GDSS) was adopted.
