The Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model has been widely used in United States and many other European countries in evaluating bank branch service efficiency. The use of DEA allows large cost savings as shown in one case where about US$6m of savings was released. Thus, the objective of this research is to introduce this method to the banking industry in Singapore and to show them the potential of DEA.
