Our motivation behind this Applied Research Project is to examine the potential for captive insurance in the region. We start out by a brief introduction on the nature of captives, stemming from the decision not to insure with the commercial market. We proceed to the development of Singapore as a captive insurance centre, with our discussion focusing on the premiums contributed by captives, the growth of the captive industry and the factors which make Singapore an attractive captive domicile.
