The rise in intra-Asia trade flows, together with the establishment of production bases, have resulted in a trend towards the establishment of Regional Treasury Centres(RTC) in Asia. Multinational companies previously managing their treasury activities from financial centres in the west, have started actively to decentralise it to the regional level. By siting their treasury functions closer to their operations, they aim to optimise their financial flows and manage their risks. Countries recognising this are attracting these activities by offering both good infrastructure and generous fiscal incentives. Singapore is one such example.
