This work deals with identifying the stress intensity factor of Al 7075-T651 for through straight crack, part through elliptical crack and through elliptical crack emanating from a hole in a plate. The impact of the crack length, material properties, crack shape and the tensile load on the stress intensity factor is analyzed. The stress intensity factor is obtained using Irwin's fracture model and the results are verified using the Newman-Raju equation for symmetric quarter elliptical crack emanating from the hole with the Shah conversion factor. The polynomial equation for particular crack geometry and loading arrangement is formed. The change in the beta function for each load case is analyzed. The stress intensity factor of the crack varies with the number, location of holes and the size of the crack in the model. The stress intensity factor value for through straight crack varies with the crack length and the tensile loading. The Stress Intensity factor varies with the crack location and the number of holes and it is not same as in Newman-Raju equation for the quarter elliptical crack emanating from the hole. The stress intensity factor values for different load cases follow a non linear pattern both for through and part through elliptical crack.
