sg-ntu-dr.10356-580762023-07-04T15:38:03Z Characterization and device applications of metal-dielectric nanocomposite thin films Liu, Zhen Chen Tupei School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering DRNTU::Engineering::Electrical and electronic engineering 202 p. Metal-dielectric nanocomposites have been the subject of intensive research due to their promising applications in multiple fields. It is the intent of this work to present a systematic investigation on the electrical and optoelectronic properties and device applications of some typical metal-dielectric nanocomposite thin films including Al-rich aluminum oxide, Ni-rich nickel oxide, and Al-rich aluminum nitride thin films. These nanocomposite thin films have been synthesized by radio-frequency magnetron sputtering. Structural characterizations, including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction, have confirmed the coexistence of metal and dielectric phases in the synthesized thin films, generally in the form of metal nanocrystal / dielectric nanocomposite [e.g., Al nanocrystal (nc-Al) / AI2O3 nanocomposite].
