Summary:Management Control Systems (MCSs) have always been the most emphasised systems in any organisation. Over the last two decades, with the constant drive towards advanced manufacturing technology in order to gain competitive advantage in a global marketplace, changes to management control systems used by organisations have also surfaced. Traditional management control practices may no longer be adequate for managing such contemporary firms' manufacturing operations, this is especially so with the adoption of advanced manufacturing technology, such as Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM).
