Process modeling approach to sustainable manufacturing

This report presents a multidimensional approach for applying sustainable manufacturing in industry. Since an industrial system is made up of activities which have complex interrelations and random processes, process modeling and simulation tools are used to model the industry. The simulation tools...

Since an industrial system is made up of activities which have complex interrelations and random processes, process modeling and simulation tools are used to model the industry. The simulation tools are used to quantify, trace and measure the industry's sustainable and costing performance, and thereby support the research work by integrating environmental concerns with economical concerns. The research work aims to demonstrate that by integrating cost, quality and productivity with environmental issues, engineers and decision makers are able to justify the application of sustainable and environmentally friendly practices in manufacturing.
