Summary: | This report summarizes the author’s Final Year Project with Nanyang Technological University under Material Science and engineering solar fuels department.
Graphitic carbon nitride was fabricated and doped with catalytic metals with an objective to produce high efficiency photocatalyst to decompose of Formic acid in water. Three types of metals including gold, palladium, platinum and its alloys were used to dope graphitic carbon nitride. The metals were doped by photo-reduction process and the amount of hydrogen was measured with a gas chromatography.
Post experiment analysis showed that an alloy of palladium and gold has the highest rate of decomposition of formic acid, producing 13579 nanomole of hydrogen in four hours of irradiation in the visible light spectrum. |
