Description
Summary:The evolution of modern technology has impacted existing operations in terms of enhancing end-user experience and boosting productivity. This project will look at how technology available in modern day can facilitate the interaction between a passenger and a taxi driver throughout the process of taking a taxi. The first objective of this project is to ensure that the user experience of a passenger and taxi driver remains unaffected even though the passenger is unable to communicate with the taxi driver through verbal means, either because of personal preference, or due to communication impairment. In future, this can further be expanded to accommodate the experience of users on-board an autonomous taxi. The second objective is to ensure that the process of performing these tasks remains intuitive to a large proportion of the population who frequently utilise taxis independently. Hence, the developed solution would have to cater to them and be easily downloadable onto their mobile devices. The final objective deals with safety and security concerns related to the developed solution. Even as technology facilitates interaction between a passenger and taxi driver, there will inevitably be issues related to both safety and security. These three objectives will culminate in the development of a functional client-side and server-side Android application. Client-side refers to the mobile application that end users, also known as passengers, will utilise while server-side refers to the tablet application that taxi drivers will handle.
