Description
Summary:Living in the world with rich information available on the internet can be advantageous to a current modern student. However not all information available on the internet may be useful and could meet one’s learning needs. This gives rise to a one-stop e-learning system which can effectively recommend materials to students or enhancing their learning experience. Despite having many commercial learning management systems in the market, there is still lacking features which can enhance user experience. Our team has identified some useful functions that can be added to the existing learning management system. The proposed system consists of a few modules namely the assessment and statistic module, path planner module, group wiki and forum module and content management and ratings module. Each module is designed with a special objective in mind. The assessment and statistic module is mainly designed for professor to plan future classes based on assessment statistics of the student performance. The path planner module is designed to effectively assign exercises to student that meets their level of competency. The group wiki and forum module’s objective is to promote team-based learning where students form group to study and learn from one another. Lastly the content management and ratings module is to consolidate ratings from each individual so that useful and relevant materials can be identified and shared with other users. In this report, related works and research done with respect to this project are being described. Detailed database and system design and implementation issues of the proposed system are also discussed in this report. This report also further elaborates on the functionalities of the proposed modules. Finally, this report is concluded with a summary and possible future recommendation of the system.
