Given its collaborative nature, music provides a framework to explore interactivity for co-located collaboration. This project aims to expand upon the idea of face-to-face interactions and design a collaborative music-interaction system for people of musical and non-musical background. The project looks at two important aspects in the design - music synthesis and interactivity. By implementing its design, the project would be able to evaluate the music-interaction system with respect to users' experiences with it, which is done through a user study. The result of the study suggests that the design of the music synthesis worked in engaging and allowing people of varied backgrounds to interactively create music. The project had displayed potential for collaborative music making where an increase in some aspects of the design evaluation was observed. However, the project was not able to completely incorporate collaboration into the music-interaction system in which collaboration would have been the preferred mode of interaction. In the end, while the project managed to achieve an interaction design that used music as its framework to explore face-to-face interactions, it had not addressed collaboration in a manner that is integral to the music interaction.
